Position Description

Position Description:  The Kids Camp Counselor plans, executes and supervises all children’s recreation activities.  Under the supervision of the Camp Supervisor, this position is responsible for the consistent delivery of recreation services to members’ and guests’ children in the program. The Camp Counselor is expected to be safety conscious, enthusiastic, engaging, and creative.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Lead by example and promote Seabrook Core Values, Characteristics, Employee Constitution and Decision Making.
  • Register children at the start of the program, get them involved in an activity.
  • Plan, organize, and implement enjoyable participatory activities for all age groups.
  • Create a safe environment and ensure the safety of the children during the time they are in our program.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies needed for the implementation of programs.
  • Assist in the preparation and cleanup of the daily children’s programs.
  • Ensure appropriate billing for all program fees.
  • Relate with parents in a positive and assuring manner at all times.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain neat and clean equipment, work areas and guest areas.
  • Work cooperatively with other recreation staff and other departments.
  • Comply with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Complete any other projects or tasks as directed.
  • Must maintain the policy of this company to conduct operations in a manner that will prevent injuries to people and damage to property and equipment and that will comply with all applicable regulations for safety and health.
  • Adhere to standards set by the Seabrook Island Club.

Job Requirements:

Education:  Degree (or seeking degree) in education, recreation or similar major preferred.

Experience: Previous experience working with children required; work in a recreation setting a plus. 

Skills: Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills. Positive, approachable, and enjoys working with people. Ability and enthusiasm for working with children in a camp setting. Computer skills preferred are Word, Excel, POS system. Professional image and outgoing personality. Current CPR certification preferred. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  None

Equipment to be used: Vans, golf carts, bicycles, and playground equipment, pool equipment.

Typical Physical Demands: Lifting and moving of equipment up to forty pounds. Ability to exert the physical mobility required to participate in any recreation activity. This position requires moderate strength and physical fitness. The position also requires repeated bending, stooping, reaching and a normal range of hearing and vision. Requires ability to function professionally in a challenging and demanding environment as well as the ability to remain on your feet for extended periods of time and the ability to work in extreme temperatures and sun during shifts.
