Refrigeration Tech II

Position Description

Essential Job Functions:

1. Install, maintain, and repair commercial refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, refrigerated display cases,
2. Perform diagnostic checks and troubleshooting on malfunctioning HVAC and refrigeration systems, identifying issues and providing timely repairs.
3. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety standards and building codes, including EPA regulations regarding refrigerant handling.
4. Inspect and test HVAC and refrigeration systems to ensure proper functioning, including electrical circuits, thermostats, compressors, fans, and condensers.

Job Requirements:

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an HVAC & Refrigeration Technician, specifically in commercial settings such as office buildings, retail spaces, restaurants, and hotels.

Licensing & Certifications: Valid HVAC technician license, as required by local regulations. EPA Section 608 certification for handling refrigerant.

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and energy management systems. Expertise in commercial refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, and refrigerated cases. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, such as multimeters, pressure gauges, and refrigerant recovery equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications for HVAC and refrigeration systems.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), work in tight spaces, and perform tasks on ladders or rooftops as required.
