The Seabrook Island Natural History Group (SINHG) is one of the island’s oldest and largest special interest groups. SINHG maintains four walking trails on the island highlighting our unique maritime ecology. They also host annual trips for members to fully experience the region’s natural beauty and history. SINHG is dedicated to exploring and protecting the ecology, history, and culture of the Carolina Lowcountry.
The Turtle Patrol protects and preserves some of our most important visitors: sea turtles. Turtle Patrol members walk the beaches every morning during the nesting and hatching season, typically from May to October. Members identify, inventory, and monitor sea turtle nests and provide data to the SCDNR to assist in tracking the reproductive performance of sea turtles that nest on Seabrook Island, South Carolina.
Seabrook Island Birders are residents, renters and guests of Seabrook Island, SC who have an interest in learning, protecting and providing for the well-being of the incredible variety of birds that inhabit Seabrook Island throughout the year. Members go on bird walks, give their input on proposed ordinances that would affect our wildlife, and volunteers to monitor bird programs in place around the island.
The Seabrook Island Green Space Conservancy’s mission is to preserve and enhance the natural environment on Seabrook Island through the acquisition of land and land easements, through education on environmental topics, and through the advocacy of conservation issues. Since 2000, the Conservancy has preserved dozens of properties as permanent green space. They are deeply grateful to everyone for sharing in the effort to keep Seabrook Island “green.”
