Among many other things, Seabrook Island is known nationwide for their two fantastic golf courses. With uncrowded courses, 36 holes of championship golf, and lessons from PGA professionals, our reputation precedes us. You might already know a thing or two about Ocean Winds and Crooked Oaks, but each course has a few features and an interesting history that you may not be familiar with. To make sure you’re up to speed on our courses the next time you play a round, we’ve compiled a list of the 7 things you probably didn’t know about the golf courses on Seabrook Island!

  1. Seabrook Island is a certified member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf. This certification is from Audubon International and indicates that Seabrook implements its golfing programs in an environmentally responsible manner. This is accomplished through things like water conservation and reduction in the use of chemicals. Seabrook was the first to obtain this certification in South Carolina and the 75th within the United States. 2. The courses at Seabrook Island were ranked among the best in South Carolina.  The state of South Carolina is known for their wide range of great golf courses and to be included in the state’s top 30 is quite an honor!

  4. Hole #17 of Ocean Winds is the most challenging of all. Only the truly dedicated golfer can master this one, since the nearby protected low country wetlands provide a challenging obstacle.
  5. The Atlantic Ocean plays a role in your game on Ocean Winds. As the name would suggest, winds from the Atlantic add some intrigue to your putts. Several holes on this course will require you to keep the ocean breeze in mind.
  6. Crooked Oaks was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Robert Trent Jones Sr had a prodigious career in golf course design. In his 93 years, he designed over 500 golf courses in the United States and in 35 other countries!
  7. Hole #18 of Crooked Oaks can make or break your game. The first shot is blind and although the second one is not, there are plenty of water and mogul obstacles that will put your skills to the test.
