New Seabrook Families Celebrate Thanksgiving

Posted 11/24/2021

Seabrook Island in SC is a special place to spend the holidays. Not only does our island have mild winter weather and plenty of sunshine, but it’s also home to a whole community of welcoming neighbors.

Three new Seabrook families shared with us what attracted them to life on Seabrook Island and how they plan on spending their first Thanksgiving at Seabrook!

Why Seabrook?
We bought a second home here after falling in love with the island’s beautiful scenery, quiet streets, and uncrowded beach. It’s incredible to live in such a serene setting while still having convenient access to great shopping and dining.

What are your Thanksgiving plans?
We will be on Seabrook for Thanksgiving this year and can’t wait! It will just be the five of us (plus our dog, Reese). We’re looking forward to family playtime on the Seabrook Island beach, keeping it casual in our sweatpants and sweatshirts all day, and then relaxing with drinks in the evening.

Why Seabrook?
To us, Seabrook is the perfect melding of nature and community. Some of our favorite things about this magical place are the wildlife (birds and dolphins in particular), tidal marshes that change with the seasons, tree-lined streets that wind around to a beautiful beach, the close proximity to Charleston, and friendly residents who have been very kind and welcoming.

What are your Thanksgiving plans?
Every Thanksgiving, we add in a couple new and unusual recipes to our traditional dishes. Everyone in the family participates in the cooking, and it’s great fun! After a late lunch, we play games, eat again, and then go look at Christmas lights.

Why Seabrook?
Seabrook checked all our boxes. Beautiful beaches and maritime forest. Mild weather. Wildlife enjoying its natural habitat. (We have deer, wild turkeys, and birds that visit us on the golf course each day!) We wanted to be close to Charleston’s medical care, culture, and restaurants. Both the view from our home, and our new neighbors themselves, are lovely.

What are your Thanksgiving plans?
We will be celebrating our Thanksgiving dinner as a picnic on the beach!
