Fulfilling Your New Year’s Resolutions
Although any day is a good day to make a positive change in your life, the first few weeks of a new year often feel like a prime time to kick things into gear. New year, a fresh start, an entire twelve months to set things in motion. Whether your new year’s resolutions include focusing on your health or spending more time volunteering, Seabrook Island has the tools and groups to support your vision.
Fitness on Seabrook
One of the most common new year’s resolutions is to begin (or return to) a more healthy lifestyle. While more goes into a healthy lifestyle than exercise alone, that’s a big part of it. Luckily, Seabrook Island has plenty of ways you can get active without driving a half hour or more to a gym.
SIPOA Lake House
The Lake House is Seabrook Island’s full-service gym facility. With more than 27,000 square feet of space, a 5-lane temperature-regulated lap pool, and daily fitness classes, you’re sure to find something that works with your schedule and interests. Visit our events calendar to see all of the fitness activities the Lake House has planned.
Looking to give back this year and get more involved in our community? Seabrook Island has over 20 volunteer groups that meet regularly. Some of these groups are more time-intensive than others and they may meet off the island. For the full list of organizations, check out the Volunteer Opportunities page.
Breaking Out of the Routine
We’re all guilty of getting stuck in our routines now and again. If your routine is going for a run along the beach three times a week, that might be one you want to keep; if yours is going to work, eating dinner, falling asleep to Netflix, and beginning the same pattern the next day, it might be time to shake things up a bit.
Why not treat yourself and your loved ones once in a while by leaving the cooking to someone else? Seabrook has dining venues that serve world-class cuisine and regularly host culinary events. For dinner with Atlantic Ocean views, make a reservation for the Palmetto Room or for something more casual, visit Pelican’s Nest.
Did you know that our Equestrian Center is not only for people in the industry? While it is a full-service equestrian center that offers monthly boarding and riding lessons, our equestrian team also leads people with no equine experience on beach and trail rides. If you haven’t met our horses (and staff!) yet, you won’t regret scheduling time to see them in the new year.
If beach rides aren’t for you, that’s fine! There are plenty of other ways to get outdoors on Seabrook.
Bohicket Marina and Market
The Bohicket Marina and Market is less than five miles away from our gates. Take a stroll along the boardwalk and stop by the market area to grab a slice of pizza from Lucky Luciano’s.
For a mixture of indoor and outdoor activities, head to Freshfields Village. It hosts annual art and wine walks, weekly yoga classes, and farmer’s markets in the summer months. View the Freshfields calendar here.
The beach and marsh are always available, but you can do more than swimming or lounging. When the temperature warms up, try paddleboarding on the marsh, jet skiing on the Atlantic, or boating on either.
Do you have a list of activities on your list of new year’s resolutions? Chances are, you can check off quite a few of them on Seabrook Island. View our full list of amenities here and have a happy New Year!
