Hooked on Charity 2014 – Benefiting cc
The Bohicket Marina is hosting its annual Hooked on Charity fishing tournament on October 11th. This year, the tournament will benefit a local Dockhand, Zack Moschell, who had to have heart valve replacement surgery earlier this year at just 27 years of age. While Zack is doing well from the surgery, the medical bills have surmounted, and the Marina has pulled together in support of him and his family’s emotional and financial well-being.
Teams who wish to participate in this charitable event may sign up here.
The last day to register is October 10th, so make sure to get your forms in early! The entry fee per boat with up to 5 anglers is just $100. The Marina states that because this is a charitable event, there will be no refunds for any reason.
A Captains Meeting will be held at 5pm on the 10th to discuss rules and regulations for the teams. Assuming at least 30 boats sign up, there will be cash prizes of up to $500 for the heaviest Sheepshead, the heaviest Flounder and also the heaviest Spotted Trout. Teams may embark from anywhere at 8am on the 11th, and the fish must be caught by boat. Bringing the catch to the Marina by boat or car is acceptable, with weigh-ins occurring between 3-5pm.
As is custom, fish must be caught with a conventional rod and reel. There are no limits on tackle, and you may use lures and artificial baits. Prizes will go to the boat with the heaviest fish. Individual prizes will not be awarded during this tournament. All SCDNR fishing rules will apply, so make sure to review the guidelines prior to heading out with your gear.
After the awards are handed out, oysters and beer will be available for purchase. Plan on celebrating with your crew after your successful day on the water! Good luck to all who participate!
