Junior Summer Tennis Camp

Posted 05/01/2019

Can you believe that summer is just around the corner already? June will be here before we know it, which means that the kids will be out of school and looking for something else to fill their time. At Seabrook Island Racquet Club, we offer Junior Summer Tennis Camp programs for children ages four to twelve from mid-June to mid-August. These programs are separated by age, the first is our Rising Stars program for children four to six and the second is for kids seven to twelve.

Rising Stars Program Ages 4-6

The Rising Stars program offers tennis sessions on weekday mornings with the exception of Monday. The main goal of these tennis training sessions is to build a foundation for the more advanced tennis work that the older children do. Our tennis professionals will help your little one work on their hand-eye coordination and footwork skills, as well as encourage them to enjoy the game of tennis.

Programs for children in the older age bracket are divided into Half-Day Tennis Camp and Morning Session Camp. The half-day camp requires a signup by the Saturday before the session, while the morning session just requires a signup before the session itself. Lunch will be provided in the half-day camp.

Our half-day tennis program uses the USTA-endorsed instruction format to make sure your children receive tennis instructions appropriate to their ages, past tennis experiences, and their abilities. Like the Rising Stars program, these tennis sessions will also offer instructions and reviews of the fundamentals of tennis, such as hand-eye coordination, footwork, and the basics of the game. Although this session is for older children, our coaches still stress the importance of enjoying time on the court. The morning-only sessions will be part of the half-day ones, but the pickup time will be at 12 pm.

What to bring

Each child should come wearing attire appropriate for tennis (shirt, shorts or skirt, socks and tennis shoes). If your child has their own racquet, bring that as well. If they do not have a racquet, we can fit your child with one of our own demo racquets. We also strongly recommend bringing a visor or hat of some sort, a water bottle, and plenty of sunscreen! We have water fountains in every court, so there is no need to purchase more water throughout the day.
