Observe Resident Dolphins Strand Feeding

The Greater Charleston area is home to about 350 resident bottlenose dolphins, 25 of which spend most of their time on Seabrook Island. Our South Carolina beaches are among the few places around the world where the strand feeding behavior can be observed. If you visit between the months of August and November, you are in luck!

The likelihood of catching this rare phenomenon is at its highest in the fall months, as resident dolphins begin to prepare for the colder water temperatures and winter food shortages. Make sure to read our strand feeding guide to find the best spots on Seabrooks for spotting local dolphins.

Enjoy Seasonal Fine Wine or Craft Beer Tastings

As Oktoberfest is celebrated around the world, many craft breweries are unveiling their new seasonal specialties, and our local Low Tide and Fat Pig breweries are no exception. Spending the day leisurely tasting fall-flavored brews and hoppy pumpkin ales amongst friends is a day well spent in our book! If you prefer wine tasting, Deep Water Vineyard on John’s Island is the perfect alternative.

Saddle Up for a Horseback Ride

Breezy, fall days are perfect for horseback riding in Charleston SC. As the only oceanfront community in the Lowcountry with a full-service equestrian center, we offer both beginner trail rides and beach rides. Visitors and residents can adopt a horse to ride, groom and feed and can enjoy beautiful rides on the beach or take a trail ride along the island’s scenic marshes. Rides and lessons are open to the public but require advance reservations. And after your horseback ride, you will want to make your next pit stop at the Steeple Chase of Charleston!

Stock Up on Fresh Fall Produce

If you are craving the flavors of fall (pears, pumpkins, potatoes, and squash are a few of our seasonal favorites), pick up some locally grown produce and freshly cut flowers from one of our local farmers! Sea Island Farmers Market and Rosebank Farms are great options that are right around the corner from our oceanfront community. And just a short drive away is The Sunday Brunch Farmers Market on James Island and the Downtown Charleston Farmers Market!

Give Your Porch a Spooky Makeover

With Halloween quickly approaching, we can’t wait to see our Seabrook Islanders get in the spooky spirit this year.
