Seabrook’s Stunning Ocean Winds Course
Ocean Winds is an award-winning, private course that winds through Seabrook’s pristine marsh, lush maritime forests, and moss-hung, century-old live oaks. Stunning Lowcountry views add the ultimate wow factor as a refreshing coastal breeze provides an exciting challenge that is guaranteed to test your golf game. Designed by Willard Byrd and opening for play in 1973, Ocean Winds was initially a 6,765 yard, par 72 Seabrook Island golf course with sophisticated style and a quiet, peaceful island atmosphere. Our unique Ocean Winds course, recently reinvigorated by world-renowned golf course architect Rees Jones and senior designer Bryce Swanson, now boasts:
- 18 Holes
- Par: 72
- Rating: 75.1
- Slope: 145
- Yardage: 6,828
A Rees Jones Restoration Project
When it comes to golf course architecture, there is no family more respected than the Joneses. Between father Robert Trent Jones, Sr., elder son Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and younger son Rees Jones, there are almost one thousand golf courses across the country and the globe designed and renovated by these three gentlemen.
Founded in 1974, Rees Jones, Inc. is a highly regarded golf course architecture firm specializing in the construction of new courses for private clubs, resorts, real estate communities, and public facilities around the world. After spending decades perfecting his unique craftsmanship and methodology, Rees Jones began redesigning and renovating existing golf courses to elevate them to premier status.
Rees Jones has designed and redesigned more than 230 golf courses during his career. From learning to play golf at a young age to later traveling worldwide to visit the most prestigious golf courses, Rees and his father transformed their passion for golf into a lifestyle. Rees, widely known as “The Open Doctor,” learned the ins and outs of golf course architecture from his father’s renowned methods, going on to start Rees Jones, Inc. The Montclair, New Jersey-based firm’s notable past projects have included 7 U.S. Open venues and 9 PGA Championship venues.
