Questions and Answers with Ryan

Q: Can you tell us a little about your career, and what brought you to Seabrook Island, South Carolina?

A: At the age of 18, I left my quaint hometown of Anderson, South Carolina, to attend the College of Charleston. From the moment I got here, I knew leaving would never be an option. For the last two decades, I have made the beautiful Lowcountry my home. After spending ten wonderful years working as an Assistant Golf Professional on Kiawah Island, SC, I transitioned into an outside sales role with a national beverage distributor where I was able to travel around the world learning about and sampling some of the most famous wines and spirits.

With the bulk of my professional career in customer service and sales, my transition into real estate came naturally to me. In 2015, I became a licensed REALTOR® in South Carolina, where I’ve always strived to provide top-level customer service and negotiations on behalf of my clients. As a local Charlestonian, my main focus areas have been Johns and James Island, West Ashley, Downtown, and Mount Pleasant. My number one goal is to share the opportunities of homeownership and coastal living with past, present, and future clients by providing an unparalleled experience in the home buying and selling process.

Q: What is the best part about being a Seabrook Island Real Estate Agent?

A: As a realtor with Seabrook Island, I get to help people turn their aspirations into a reality, whether that means finding their dream home or a new investment opportunity that supports their financial goals. Being able to incorporate my passion for helping people into a career that I enjoy makes me feel truly blessed.

Q: If you could plan your perfect day at Seabrook, what would it look like?

A: When I’m not spending time around the island taking in the beautiful scenery and unique real estate, I am enjoying an early morning tee time on our Ocean Winds and Crooked Oaks courses with friends and family. After playing a round of golf, you can find me at Pelicans Nest with a plate of fresh, local seafood and a refreshing afternoon cocktail. They serve a delicious Bloody Mary! Pelicans Nest is one of my favorite dining spots on Seabrook because of the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and Deveaux Bank, which are even more beautiful at sunset!

Q: What recommendations do you like to give first-time visitors to the island? Any hidden gems you can share?

A: If you are looking for a fun, family-friendly activity to help you experience Seabrook Island, I recommend renting kayaks or paddleboards and launching at the crabbing dock. After you are finished exploring the tidal creeks and hopefully spotting a few of our native Charleston species, you can hit Pelicans Nest for Happy Hour while enjoying the sunset. Another one of my favorite activities is horseback riding along one of Seabrook’s beaches! There is something for everyone to enjoy at Seabrook, from spending the day lounging poolside to taking long walks on the beach.

Q: If you could pick your dream property on Seabrook Island to move into right now, which would it be?

A: Seabrook has so many exquisite properties, but 3135 Marshgate Drive is one of my favorite homes. Located right on the Kiawah River, the property has deep water access and stunning views of the Atlantic and Capn Sams Inlet. It’s the perfect spot to take one of Seabrook’s breathtaking sunrises or sunsets. 1161 Oyster Catcher Court is another extraordinary property with expansive ocean and marsh views in almost every room of the home. With six bedrooms, five full bathrooms, two half-baths, this home offers lots of space to spend time with loved ones.

Q: What’s your favorite memory from Seabrook Island so far?

A: In the two months I have been with Seabrook, I have fallen in love with the island even more! One of my favorite memories is actually from when my family and I went shore fishing a few weeks ago. It was a quiet morning, with the sun just coming up over Pelican Beach. We caught a few tiny mullets, a trout, and even an elusive saltwater catfish. After a successful day of fishing, our family enjoyed a picnic spread on the beach; it was so much fun!

Q: Time for a quick trivia…Let us know which is your favorite!

A: Sunrise or Sunset? A radiant sunrise – it brings new meaning to the cliche early bird gets the worm!

Beach or Marsh? Lounging in a chair on the beach while soaking up some of the Lowcountry sunshine is definitely one of my favorite weekend activities.

Turtle Hatching or Dolphin Strand Feeding? I love to watch our native bottlenose dolphins as they feed along the coastline. They are truly magnificent creatures.

Boat Day or Pool Day? Exploring all of the places surrounding Seabrook by boat is a day well spent in my book.

Catch Your Own Dinner or Eat at the Clubhouse? I find that fishing is a great way to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the island. Being able to catch your own dinner makes it even better!
