Ahhh, Spring is in the air! Flowers are blooming, children are playing outside, and the Island is starting to warm up again. The horses are enjoying the warm breezes on the beach, while golfers and tennis players are found more often enjoying the sunshine. c

Easter Festival
The Annual Easter Festival will be held on April 4th from 11-3 pm and will host free activities for kids and adults alike. Come on out and enjoy the fresh air, pick up some goodies, and get local fresh treats from the Village Market. Vendors will be celebrating on the grounds, so bring your kids out. Its a great time to go Easter egg hunting by the ocean!
Easter Services followed by Brunch on the Lawn
Calvary of the Sea Islands Church will host a non-denominational Easter service at 9:30 am on the 5th. Following services, Heges will be offering a brunch buffet, starting at 11-2pm, for those in attendance, or simply for those who wish to come out and enjoy the day on the lawn. The menu will include omelets made to order, shrimp and grits, baked items, french toast, leg of lamb, smoked salmon, country fried Manchester quail with gravy, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, corned beef hash, and fresh fruit. Its a delicious way to end a Lenten fast with a new outlook and good food right at your fingertips.
Blues By the Sea
Gary Erwin and Shrimp City Slim are bringing back Blues by the Sea on April 12th at 3 pm. Food vendors, artists, crafts, and live music will entertain you throughout the afternoon. Musician Vaness Collier opens the stage with her unique style until Eddie Shaw takes over to headline the event. Listen to the blues and bear witness as Shaw tears up the stage with a New Orleans blast of the tenor saxophone. This is definitely one you won’t want to miss.
Bohicket Marina
Fishermen, start your engines! The Dolphin Slam hits Bohicket Marina on May 2nd. Being the 2nd Annual Slam, they are set to hit new records with participants, weigh-ins, and the amount of catch per team. This year brings a new challenge, as fishermen from Bohicket will try to outcatch members from Edisto Beach in a friendly competition. The winning team gets bragging rights for the year. Anyone interested should inform their friends, family, neighbors, church, and schools about this event. $200 gets your team in, and prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd Heaviest Dolphin will be awarded.
