A Pet’s Paradise on Seabrook
Dreaming of running down the beach with your four-legged friend? Seabrook Island features two pristine South Carolina pet-friendly beaches for the ultimate day taking in the Lowcountry sunshine and the Atlantic’s salty breeze. Pelican Beach is a great place to explore with your pet, as it is known for its radiant sunsets and Seabrook Island dolphins strand feeding along the coast. The North Beach has two sectioned-off areas where pets can roam free and explore the sand.
Seabrook Leash Rules to Know
Dogs are welcome at Seabrook’s attractions, but we ask that you follow all leash guidelines to create a safe experience for all beach-goers. Here is a quick guide if you are ready to hit the beach with your best friend:
Peak Season (April 1 – September 30): Pets must be on a leash between the hours of 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. At all other times, pets may be off a leash, provided they remain effectively controlled while on the beach.
Off-Peak Season (October 1 – March 31): Pets may be off a leash at all times, provided they remain effectively controlled while on the beach.
If you decide to visit the charming and historic city of Charleston located just nearby, you and your pup can stop by and socialize at James Island County Park. Kiawah Beachwalker Park is another thrilling area both pets and their people will enjoy. Walk your leashed dog through this beautiful Charleston wildlife habitat, home to 30 species of reptiles, and 80 amazing bird species. To maintain the wildlife sanctuary on Seabrook Island, dogs are prohibited from designated critical habitat areas.
Seasonal Dog Leash Area: From the Critical Habitat Area west of Beachwalker County Park to the eastern boundary of the Beach Club.
- March 16 – October 31: Dogs must be leashed at all times.
- November 1 – March 15: Dogs are allowed to be off-leash.
