History of Our Private Island near Charleston

Palmetto Golfer highlighted the unique draw that Seabrook Island’s Club has with Southeastern golfers. Our Island’s history begins with the settlement of the English colonies in America. The land eventually came into the hands of cotton planter, William Seabrook, who endowed Seabrook Island with its namesake.

Once valued for its rich agricultural potential, Seabrook has always been a hidden gem of natural beauty. Golfers now enjoy experiencing life in our wildlife sanctuary, living alongside nature on the same land on which William Seabrook first planted.

Seabrook Island Updates Courses for Golf Near Charleston

Palmetto Golfer also brought attention to our much-anticipated updates to Seabrook Island’s two private golf courses near downtown Charleston, South Carolina. Residents remember how the 2016 overhaul of the Club’s practice facilities dramatically changed the game for visiting golfers and residents alike. With five target greens, two new putting greens, a new fairway bunker, a separate short game area, and more, the expansive new complex updated Seabrook’s offerings for serious golfers. Renovations of several holes on the Crooked Oaks golf course also refreshed the course that was already a golfer’s paradise. With ongoing construction to the Ocean Winds golf course, golf on Seabrook will only continue to be more and more of an idyllic retreat for the South’s golf community.

Community Sets Seabrook Island Golf Apart

Caleb Elledge, Seabrook Island Club’s general manager and chief operating officer, was spot on in telling Palmetto Golfer’s writer, “The thing that differentiates Seabrook is its sense of community.” Seabrook Island offers golfers Southern hospitality at its finest. Golfers can experience first-hand the tight-knit community core to Seabrook’s identity as a private Charleston, SC island, Some love the Island so much, they decide to move here permanently!
